Now in front of us you see a three-arch bridge which is the famous big rainbow bridge. It was built in the reign of Emperor Chongzhen(1628—1644) of the Ming Dynasty .It used to be a wooden structure with red balustrades, hence another name Red Bridge and the bridge was converted into a stone bridge in the reign of Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty. The bridge looked like a rainbow over the lake and was then renamed Rainbow Bridge .The Great Rainbow Bridge used to be the venue for parties held by literary men in ancient times.
